Matt Kitces

Matt Kitces is an experienced patent attorney with a passion for law and technology. His practice focuses on preparing and prosecuting strong patents, drafting clear and complete opinions, and working with clients to develop actionable strategies for generating, improving, and leveraging patent portfolios. He has additional experience with patent litigation, trademark prosecution, and trademark oppositions.

Matt loves working with clients, learning about the clever solutions they develop, and helping them expand and capitalize on their innovations. His curiosity and drive to learn has led to work across a wide variety of technological fields, including AI and machine learning, electrical devices and equipment, medical devices, computer hardware, software and computer-implemented technologies, mechanical devices, textiles, and metallurgy, among others.

Matt lives in Washington, DC and enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, singing in a local a cappella group, playing board games, and tinkering with electronics and computers.
